This “award-winning” game promises endless fun for the whole family. The Hilarious Family Game perfect for kids, tweens, teens, and adults, it’s quick to set up and easy to play, even for your most screen-obsessed teenagers. Maybe it’s just a way to add some (questionable) fun to your family game night.

Disclosure

Headline: “Award-Winning” – So many awards, The Hilarious Family Game must be REALLY good. Or, maybe they just paid for them…

Family Fun: “Perfect for kids, tweens, teens and adults!” – Translation: It’s so bad, even your grandma will be laughing (at you, not with you).

Perfect Gift: “Win points with your middle schoolers or rambunctious teens…” – This is the only way to get them to stop staring at their screens…for about 3 minutes.

As Seen On: “Don’t just take our word for it…ask our fans!” – We’re paying them to say it’s great, but you can believe them if you want.

Recipe for Fun: “Ready to play in minutes with instructions that are simple and easy to understand.” – It’s so simple, even your toddler could understand it…which means it’s probably pretty boring.

Less Screen Time: “Get your kids off of their tablets and TVs…” – We’re not saying this game is good, but it’s better than staring at screens, right?

Overall Tone: This game promises endless laughter and family bonding. But, it’s more likely to cause eye-rolls and groans, especially from the parents who have to play it.

The kids thought this was the funniest thing when they played it the first time. I haven’t heard them laughing together like that for a while, which was great. Even our youngest, 6 years old, was able to join in because he can read the cards. This system could also be used as a springboard for silly story ideas…I may suggest this to them in the future. Overall happy with this purchase and would recommend for tweens and teens.

Ordered this for my thirteen year old brother’s birthday, and It’s a great game! Before giving it to him I went through all the cards to make sure that they were appropriate, and ended up taking out 2 red cards that I deemed a little inappropriate (“Your mom and her multiple personalities” and “Your cousin’s R-rated movie collection”) and 3 that didn’t really fit with the fill in the blank cards or really weren’t that funny. Other than that, this game is really fun and just like Cards Against Humanity except more appropriate for younger audiences. This game provides lots of laughs and is great for anyone 10 and up.

    Pros:
Small size(great for small kid hands)
    Smooth finish
    Clear even type

    Cons:
    Some cards stuck together
    Small cards(bad for other sets)
Red and blue cards(bad for other sets)

So these cards are for kids and not in the black and white format of CAH. That, I knew before buying them. What I did not realize is how small the cards would be. They aren’t tiny but they are smaller than standard playing cards and CAH. This is beneficial for kids with small hands, but not great if you plan on mixing them with any other sets. The colors would be hard enough to mix with other sets but the size makes it impossible to ignore the differences. I will not be returning these cards though. I couldn’t mix them with other sets but the content looks better than the other kids set we own. We don’t own the core set and it is unavailable right now, otherwise I wouldn’t even be that disappointed about the size. I bought these because I didn’t want them to sell out like the core set, and I thought I’d be mixing them with our other kids cards. I’ll just have to wait a little while longer to see how much edgier this content is than our other kids card sets.

The only true complaint I have is that some of the cards stuck together like they were packaged before the coating was dry enough. The cards peeled a little while separating the ones that were stuck but it was only cosmetic and in the corners so it didn’t obscure the words.

I have not play tested them but they feel smooth and sturdy enough to hold up to kids and drinks too. I’ll update about content, typos, and playability for kids and adults once we can obtain the core game and play.

I SPENT A LOT OF TIME going between this and Kids Against Maturity. I’m HAPPY WITH THIS PURCHASE. Was shopping for 10-11 year olds and something adults could relate to/find funny also.

Lots of people are mad about a few cards, literally a FEW which you could remove. I actually think they may have removed some of the cards people have posted on other reviews. There are also BLANK cards for you to make your own. This is definitely going to be fun for adults and kids WHO GO TO PUBLIC SCHOOL! There are a lot of SCHOOL related cards. If your kids are home schooled they may not understand half of them for find them funny. That is my only complaint as a lot of the cards are school related. They could have thrown in more that were generic that referenced the mall, store, playground, park, neighborhood, etc… will have to get expansion packs! Cards are also smaller than regular playing cards.

Probably best for 10-15 year olds. Kids that are around 8 should still have fun, but maybe not relate as well to some of the cards, and kids over 15 would definitely be fine playing this with younger siblings or if babysitting, but probably not with friends who are 15 and older…

I can relate to a lot of these cards thinking back as a kid in the 80s/90s but a lot of current cards that reference things kids are into now. My parents were pretty strict, but I don’t think many of the cards would have been found offensive or inappropriate even by my parents. Also, if your kids know to use the cards in a context you find inappropriate then they already learned something somewhere you weren’t aware of – kids learn a lot of inappropriate things from other kids, especially if they have older siblings, cousins or friends in the neighborhood.

There are a lot of pimple/fart related cards. I think the only downfall to the game is calling it “Not Parent Approved” it is an attempt to sound cool to a kid, but it’s not… LOL

As a parent, I appreciate that “Not Parent Approved” keeps the focus on fun and lightheartedness while steering clear of mature content. It’s an excellent alternative to screen time and a fantastic way to engage in quality family time.

A good family game that brings many laughs! Seems expensive for a card game, but it appears that’s the asking price in many stores.

This game has been so fun! We have played it numerous times with many different ages. There is enough safe but inappropriate cards for the older generation without being too much for the younger generation. Love that there are no politics like in cards against humanity! Lots of fart cards and talking about “crushes”. But some very funny ones too! Kids who are a bit young for sarcasm can still play, however the game is more fun if the kids are old enough to get the jokes that are laid out. We played with a witty 8 year old who got all the jokes, however we also played with a 9 year old and the jokes went over their head. So the game depends on the level of ability of the kid. Our 10 and 12 year old LOVED it. lots of laughs. I have added a few photos to give you an idea of the types of cards you can see…the single card to the right is the question card and the 6 cards doubled up on the left are some potential answer cards. Highly recommend this as a fun family game!!
