I will never sew swimwear without an elastic foot ever again! This made sewing with elastic SO much faster and easier! It took a while to get the hang of it— tip, when twisting the “lock” into place, don’t twist it too tight or it hangs onto the elastic and doesn’t feed it through, and start by pushing the elastic through and sewing a small bit just to get the elastic going before you put your fabric under. Sews the elastic uniformly-stretched, and right up against the edge of the fabric. Love it!

I’ve seen reviews commenting that this attachment did not stretch the elastic, but it has worked as advertised for me using 3/8″ braided elastic. Perhaps they were using a different sort of elastic that is thinner, or did not have it routed correctly. HOT TIP: The tensioning device is a simple dial with settings 0 – 4, with 4 being the most stretch. Take a 10″ piece of fabric, dial in a trial setting, and serge the 10″ edge. Now measure the resulting length of the edge. If the edge is now 9″, you have 10% stretch (10″ / 9″). I found I got no noticeable stretch with THIS elastic until increasing to setting 2 on THAT particular elastic. The thickness of your elastic will determine how high you need to set the tension for a desired stretch %.

I have used this elastic foot three times for making bathing suits. The stretch of the elastic only works when set on “4”. Anything less does not stretch the elastic for application. This may be due to the knit elastic that I am using. Fortunately, the setting “4” seems to be just the right amount of stretch I need. I see myself just doing it with the regular foot and stretching the fabric and elastic if I need a tighter fit.

I was skeptical because I saw the reviews of this not pulling the fabric but I’m glad I bought it! Works great guides the elastic so my hands are free to guide the fabric AND it does pull the elastic. At setting 1 there is barely any pull at 2 there is a slight pull 3 is more pull and at 4 you get a great amount of pull. Shipping was fast I ordered Friday and it reached my skybox by Monday morning. Very awesome. Helpful in my swimwear making
the first pic is set at 1 the second at 2 the third at 3 and four is set at 4

I was skeptical as to how well this product would work, especially given some of the other reviews. It has worked great for me so far. I’ve used this foot on my 1034D serger to apply elastic to a cotton fitted sheet and a ripstop nylon tire cover – both without difficulty. For me, this has been a good purchase.

I sew all of my clothing including lingerie. While I enjoy sewing lingerie, I detest struggling with elastic – which is why I bought this elastic foot.
Take some time to play with this before testing it out on a garment. I watched some Youtube videos showing how to use the elastic foot – and that helped immensely. The instructions with the foot aren’t as complete as I needed. I found that I had to cut the elastic 1″ longer than the pattern required and to give the elastic a little tug now and again. I also had to do a bit of experimenting to get the differential feed adjusted properly. I keep my foot in the bag in which it came along with the instructions. I wrote on the instructions how I had the differential feed adjusted, how I had the tension adjusted on the foot and to cut the elastic 1″ longer.
Using the serger and the elastic foot saved me at least an hour. No marking the garment and the elastic. No struggling to get the elastic sewn on. No having to sew the elastic twice.
The one disadvantage, and it’s not a huge disadvantage, is that this foot is great for installing plain elastic. It’s not good for installing fancy elastic. If I want fancy elastic, I still have to use my sewing machine. To me, this is a tiny price to pay to be able to attach elastic quickly and easily.

Wow what a great way to sew elastic! I am new to serging and am having fun experimenting with different techniques and feet. This one is easy to use and has lots of possibilities. I am really glad I got this!

Just not as we would like it. The foot is a little long, which restricts the sewing line.

This is one of the best purchases I have ever made for sewing. I use a lot of elastic in my work and this really helps keep the tension and elastic on target. 🙂
