Disclosure

Because playing a game is definitely going to make us more resilient and promote a strong work ethic, right? And let’s not forget all the amazing benefits like enhancing self-motivation and reducing social anxiety – who needs therapy when you have a card game, am I right?

And of course, it’s a valuable tool for parents to understand their children’s emotions better, because nothing says emotional connection like a game about mindsets. Just what we all needed to boost our self-esteem and develop essential skills, because playing a card game is definitely the key to success in life.

But hey, who needs real-life experiences and genuine human connections when you can just shuffle some cards and magically become a better person, right? Because that’s exactly how personal growth works – through a deck of cards.

In all seriousness, while card games can be fun and entertaining, let’s not forget that true personal development and growth come from within, from our own experiences, challenges, and interactions with others. I have been using this card deck with my clients from my intellectual disabled to my clients who struggle with cognitive distortions and they love it. The questions sometimes needs to be reframed for their reference but overall it’s an amazing deck.

Great tool to help tweens learn about emotional intelligence. Helps one build a foundation for recognizing the difference between fixed mindsets and growth mindsets and how provides guidance on how to develop a growth mindset.

This is exactly the right thing for kids and teens. It empowers them to change their mindset and improve their future. The cards break down how you truly can do anything if you have the desire to do so and teaches you how to overcome your own obstacles. As a parent, I found these cards very powerful. They are a good conversation starter about choosing the way we react to things. The cards have plenty of real-world examples, and suggestions are provided on how to make the change from a fixed mindset.

I liked the different examples on growth mindset by answering questions. I wish it was more fun to play the game to capture more engagement besides spelling the word mindset. The objective was to spell the word mindset if questions about growth mindset and fixed mindset were answered correctly. It had many varied examples on growth mindset which was great.

I bought this to use with older school age kids. The questions are very wordy with high grade level language (too much for 1-4th grade, but the colors giving away the letter makes it too easy for older kids to “stack the deck”.

I love the growth mindset concept and use it in my counseling practice with teens and preteens. But the language of this game is too clinical and formal, not how teens talk. Also the “game” aspect of it feels a bit too contrived—I returned it. Sorry; I really wanted it to work.
