And not even a decent sample pack – there’s only a couple of flavors in this thing, hardly enough to call “variety”. And the size is upsetting.

The jerky is only 4” long for the multi-packaged ones and 6.5” for the longer single sticks, which is much smaller than imagined. When I saw the long sticks in the product picture I thought they were those gas station sticks that are 12”+ long, which would make all the sticks a decent size given that imagined, faulty size ratio. Especially the way they repeatedly misrepresented the bag in the pictures.. I thought the bag “appeared” so full/tall was due to the sticks being much longer. Nope, just deceptive advertising and false representation.

The pictures show a gift bag that’s full and appears to be totally stuffed with jerky but in reality the bag can’t even be considered half full. Reminded me of those potato chip bags that are 70% air. The bag really just seems superfluous.. hardly a need for it, given how empty it is.

And 3 pieces of the 26-piece jerky is actually cheese. I guess my mistake for not manually counting every piece in the product picture and spending more time to verify sufficient, different flavors. Why advertise it as a 26-piece jerky pack when it’s only 23 pieces of jerky?

The cloth bag itself is just cheap fabric thrown together. Mine had a handful of loose threads inside it and I had to flip it inside out and trim off the rat’s nest of threads so it didn’t look so cheap. Since it’s advertised and intended to be a “gift bag” that holds the jerky and will most likely get presented to someone as a gift, the unraveled threads is just one more disappointing feature.

Guess they need to spend less money on deceptive advertising and more on the actual product.

Don’t waste your money on this. Go to the grocery store instead and put together your own variety pack. You’ll get more jerky and most likely more flavors for less cost. $40 is just way too much to spend on a couple non-unique samples. The only way to make this is decent gift is by adding more jerky and/or more flavors to it. Otherwise it’s like you’re giving a couple ordinary snacks as a gift. Like gifting a can of peanuts or something.. thanks for the gift but why?- Even if the recipient loves jerky, this “unique” “gift bag” has zero wow factor.

The only positive thing I can say is that the samplers were purchased 12/14 and it arrived 12/19, at a time when shipping becomes hectic and delays run amok. So rather decent shipping time. And also that I’m absolutely ecstatic that I didn’t buy the 52-piece jerky sampler for $75 instead. At least my regret is the smaller than what it could’ve been.

I actually came across this product in an online article that listed and described cool gift ideas for guys. Given the [paid for?] high average rating here, I trusted what I saw and didn’t do enough due diligence, even though I was wondering at the time if $40 was worth it. Had I read the 1-star reviews like I normally do I would’ve seen the complaints regarding the size (and would’ve worried about getting moldy/rotten products, which thankfully my order didn’t appear to be). Lesson learned – don’t trust ratings, don’t trust product pictures and descriptions, and don’t rely on any online “cool gift” lists to suggest tested or reliable products.

The family members who received the jerky sets looked excited to try the flavors. If I get feedback from them as they eat the various samples, I will try to come back and update this review.

All in all, the cost was a bit high, but with good feedback from the recipients, it would be totally worth it.
