What a surprise, this Electronic Musical Instrument is apparently one of Japan’s best-selling musical instrument portable synthesizer toys! Because who doesn’t want a toy that makes annoying sounds? It’s so fun and easy to play, just slide your fingers along the stem and squeeze its cheeks to make it even more irritating with vibrato.
And guess what? You can create your own sound, like a high-pitched screech or a low groan, and if you’re lucky, you might even get your friends to join in and create a chaotic harmony. It’s not just for kids, oh no, even adults can waste their time with this silly toy.
Just make sure you have three AAA batteries on hand because they’re not included, of course. And hey, did I mention that it’s approximately 10.6 inches long? How impressive!

This Otamatone is perfect as either a fun gift or an entry point to Otamatones. Plenty of people will get a laugh out of this even if they have no musical talent. I personally purchased this as a birthday gift for one my closer friends and he laughed as soon as he saw it.
If you are actually trying to purchase an Otamatone and are serious about using it, then I would suggest purchasing one of the larger models that feel sturdier. Personally speaking, if I were to buy one for myself, I would be buying the more expensive but larger model.

Cool. Kids and adults love it. But not touch-sensitive enough.

I can’t believe how much I laugh with this thing. It’s super easy to use. Only issue I have is the thin board. I have thick, strong fingers, and I feel like I might snap it when I play. (I have to pinch pretty hard to get the board to play a note.) I haven’t snapped it yet, so clearly it’s sturdier than it looks.
I recommend using a tuner app if you want a specific note. Use a small piece of duct tape to show where to place your fingers. Don’t use sharpie, unless you know you’re not going to be mad about it later.

Nicht unbedingt ein Spielzeug. Man muss schon etwas üben, wie bei einem ernsthaften Instrument. Kleiner als gedacht.

Worked great as a gift. Nice sound and the battery life seems to last awhile! My cousin says he loves it and he’s composing as we speak. I also 100% recommend if giving it as a gift that you get the case with the foam cut out that really solidifies the beauty of the instrument.

Fun toy that everyone in the house wanted to play with! It takes a little practice to get the hang of it. This one is a little smaller than I thought. The deluxe version is larger and more expensive but I choose this one due to price. I probably should have went with the deluxe.

Very fun, very easy to master. If you’ve played instruments before, this little fella isn’t hard to learn.
