When my chihuahua was diagnosed with inoperable cancer, I decided to make ink paw prints. While researching the ink paw prints, I saw a video online of someone making a sculpture of her dog’s paw using Luna Bean. I decided to give it a try. I read the directions and made notes of what to do and not do from videos online. Since the bucket is quite deep, I put my chihuahua on a box and raised the bucket a little with books. My neighbour fed my dog peanut butter and he was amazingly good. It took 7 minutes to set before taking my hand and his paw out. He did have some of the mold stuck to his fur as I didn’t put enough oil on his leg and paw. It takes several days for the sculpture to dry, (after peeling the rubbery mold) but be patient. The sculpture is absolutely magnificent! There’s so much detail. You can see my fingerprints and his paw prints so clearly as well as every wrinkle and mark on my hands and the fur on his paw. I’m so in love with it. It sits on my mantle and I look at it every day. (My precious chihuahua passed 5 months afterward.). I couldn’t be happier with this product. It’s absolutely brilliant!

This was a nice gift for my dad. It was fun for the kids to do, but not as easy as you would think. Instructions were good, but still hard to get it as perfect as you would want. Keep in mind this will take days and days and days to dry before you can gift, so not something you can do a couple of days before. It’ll also take some time to fix up imperfections. Much more work than what I anticipated, but overall, a cool gift idea, perfect or not.

We read instructions, watched YouTube instructions and did exactly as they said. When we pulled our hands out and I looked in the hole I cried thinking that we had ruined it by the looks of it. We poured the plaster, waited for 3.5 hours then hesitated to take the form away thinking it would look horrible. When we got the form pulled away, I cried because it was perfect! I read all the instructions, followed them step by step, the disappointment I had after trying to get my 14 year olds dog paw in my hand was real. The quality for the price was just not there. Now it could have been me, it was my first time but for the price I wish it turned out. My girl is gone over the rainbow bridge, sucks I don’t have her paw casted.

Works really well and easy to figure out! This kit definitely makes a bit of a mess while doing it, but clean up was easy enough (even with plaster and mold material). We followed the directions, but used a drop of olive oil instead of baby oil or massage oil and it worked perfectly fine. The casting turned out wonderfully and now it is just drying out for a few weeks before we paint it.
